Im Tropengewächshaus in 'Planten un Blomen' in Hamburg werden Pflanzen aus den verschiedenen Klimazonen der Erde auf 2.800 Quadratmetern – vom tropischen Dschungel bis zur Wüste – gezeigt. Der Komplex ist in fünf Bereiche unterteilt. Neben dem Tropenhaus gibt es ein Subtropen-, ein Kakteen- und ein Farnhaus. Bemerkenswert ist vor allem die Konstruktion: Die Gewächshäuser stehen unter Denkmalschutz, ihre Verglasung ist an außen liegenden Profilen aufgehängt und der Innenraum auf diese Weise frei von tragenden Elementen.
