BISAR - Berlin International Skateboard Artists Residence präsentieren die 'do not think' Ausstellung im Kunstraum Bethanien.

Seit 5. August 2011 befindet sich die skatebare Skulptur Papa Und Ich vor dem Eingang des Kunstraums Kreuzberg/Bethanien. Dieses Werk des englischen Trickzeichners Dave the Chimp stellt einen Vater dar, der schützend die Arme um sein Kind legt. Ein Ausdruck von Freude und Freiheit aber auch eine sensible und verspielte Einführung zur Ausstellung 'do not think'.

Ein Crossover zwischen der Do It Yourself Culture und der Fine Art betreibt der jetzt in Hamburg lebende Künstler Stefan Marx.
Inspiriert von Graffitti, der Skateboard Szene und dem Clubleben der Technokultur kreiert er sein eigenes T-Shirt-Label, kopiert Zines und gestaltet Cover, Plakate und seine eigenen Bücher, die er fast alle in Eigenregie herausbringt. Sein Medium ist zum größten Teil die Zeichnung, welche oft etwas Einfaches, fast „Kindliches“ ausstrahlt, um im nächsten Moment wieder schwer durchschaubar und rätselhaft zu wirken. Auch die immer wiederkehrenden Slogans wirken zuerst komisch, erst bei genauerer Betrachtung entfalten sie ihren ganzen Sinn. Marx wandelt dabei stets auf dem schmalen Grat zwischen Ironie und Schönheit.

Kevin Earl Taylorʼ s paintings have a symbiotic theme showing organisms, animals, and humans all coexisting. Whether parasitic or beneficial, the common thread behind his oil paintings is that these strange creatures all exist together - similar to our own reality. His fascination with animals, environment, and human relations has led him to turn animals into humans in an anthropomorphic figure. The collective consciousness that makes us aware of other beings on the planet is incorporated in his paintings to tell a story of life, and this thing we call death. Taylorʼ s abstract narratives are dream oriented in a playful, sometimes renaissance oriented painting style. With humor, harmony, morphology, genealogy, symbiosis, and just not taking himself too seriously, Kevin Earl Taylor attempts to expose the animal within.

Kevin Earl Taylor was born in 1972 in Charleston, SC. In 1995, he received a B.F.A. from The Savannah College of Art and Design. His work has been exhibited and published throughout the US, as well as internationally. Though primarily an oil painter, he also explores time based art forms such as sound and video. The artist works and lives in San Francisco, California.
